Whether those skills were bestowed by ancient astronauts from a more advanced civilization (perhaps using "borrowed technology" that was reclaimed at some stage), or whether there have been technologically advanced human civilizations in the past who, for whatever reason ceased to exist, is anyone's guess at the moment. Personally, I hope that more study is done in this field, rather than simply grasping the first straw of theory that comes along and ridiculing any alternative explanation - no matter how "way out" it may seem.
Here's a way out and wacky Theory for you John. Our ancestors were just as smart and ingenious as we are, and didn't need help from an advanced technology.

Where did you get those weights of the Carnac stones from John?
"Sheared-off mountain tops"? I thought the Nazca lines were "drawn" on a plateau? Please elaborate.

and 60 times as fast. HE HE HE
That critisism coming from a person that believes in Ghosts, is somewhat ironic.

So there may be technologies of a different order than what we know today that are still lost.

Why the AA theory is looked at with disdain by mainstream archeologists and modern scientists is a mystery to me.
The reason it is looked at with disdain is that there is nothing, no evidence, that supports the "Theory". Everything that has been presented as evidence is misrepresentation, often in the same vein as the selected quotes from the 16th century manuscript we saw in this thread, earlier.

Often, they don't - they simply ridicule the efforts of those seeking answers whilst not providing credible answers themselves. Yes, there are crazies out there. Yes, there are those who are out to scam people into giving their money away. There are also such people in "mainstream", too.
John there is a large differnce between the shonky, such as you get with your AA types, and genuine scientists who are proposing Theories that are genuine, albeit not accepted by the Mainstream. Take for example the Theory proposed in the 1980 and 1990s that the Dinosaurs were warm blooded. This is a Theory that is based on facts, there is a genuine scientific basis to the Theory, and even now, in spite of the solid scientific basis, there is still not general acceptance of the Theory. But that is how science is supposed to work, an outsider works to get a Theory accepted, by providing solid scientific evidence and rigourous argument based on the facts. The mainstream does it's best to discredit the Theory.
On the other hand there is no scientific basis to the AA "Theories", they are simply misrepresentation and conjecture. Because they are misrepresentation and conjecture they do not require anything more than derision from the Scientific community, and indeed the rest of us.
If the Mainstream you are refering to requires quotes around it, then I suggest what you are refering to is not mainstream at all, but simply shonky masquarading as mainstream.

Your remark, coming from someone who seems to know nothing about architectural engineering is even more ironic.
Coming from someone who knows nothing about architectural engineering, it would be, doubly so. Coming from someone who doesn't buy the notion that we could not have done it, not so much.
The irony is that you make claims that there are things that science and technology can't explain, and to support that claim you tell us you've seen Ghosts. Then you turn around that you know all there is to know about what the ancients needed to do, and that is precisely why they could not do x y or z. That my friend is pure irony.
