Oh yes, that was the whole idea. I was just making a bit of social commentary on the fact that Edison patented the Electric Chair while they were still struggling to build the power generators, using the excuse that it was a more "humane way of execution" while showing the public "Just how dangerous AC was". Yes, it was soley to discredit Tesla, though it turns out that AC IS easier to use. One of those, making a point types situations. Did you ever read about his plans for building a "Tube to allow travel around the world without ships". That was amazing even in the 50's, but he envisioned this again, sometime in the 1800's. You would ride up in an elevator at fixed points on the equator, to a tube that encircled the earth completely. Then when ready, the tube would be 'cast loose', and the earth would revolve underneath the tube. Once a certain distance was achieved, you could stop the tube and let people off and pick others up. Theoretically you could ride around the entire earth in less then 8 hours. He also had the idea of making transporation using his "wireless transmission of power". Bloody Genius he was.
