I can't figure out why, for the past few years, it's actully cheaper (in UK at least) to buy a new printer than it is to buy a new cartridge for the old one.
I have a Lexmark Z13, the printer only cost £19.99 retail - not wholesale - . yet the cartriges are virually unavailable (and cost on average according to the catalogue £24.99) - I've looked everywhere and can't find any. Even WH Smith say that their suppliers can't get ahold of them.
A year ago one of my friend who is a professional photographer, told me that he uses an Espon printer - a specialised one, mind you, not the run-of-the-mill business type. He said that one day they got sooo p*ssed off with looking for cheap cartridges that they went to the wholesaler and asked for 15 printers. The salesman said, "certainly, where would you like them delivered?", my friend replied "Nowhere, you can put them all in the skip, I just want the cartridges!"
I've heard of the "throw away" society, but this is really getting to be rediculous! Printers are cheaper than the ink cartidges - it's flaming rediculous! Why don't they reduce the prices of the cartridges?
Waddyathink?
