Claws Mail 3.10 was released today with important new features such as auto-configuration of account email servers based on SRV records, so for instance if you enter a Gmail account, Claws Mail will automatically determine the connection details (ports, server names, security protocols, etc.).
The new release also includes proper certificate verification, an option to avoid saving drafts for emails that are to be sent encrypted, a new Libravatar plugin which displays user avatars from libravatar.org and more.
I use Claws-Mail, I like it a lot, I used to use Evolution, but for a couple of reasons I stopped, there was a nasty bug that caused problems, and I didn't need all the Business oriented "Outlook" stuff (Evolution being an Open Source version of MS Outlook. I don't like Thunderbird, the multi tab browser style thing doesn't suit me, so I found Claws. Like Evolution, Claws brings all my email accounts (all 6) into a single list (unlike Thunderbird which keeps them in separate lists), which I like. Claws also integrates with Spam Assassin the smart and trainable anti spam filter.
The one problem with Claws that would have made it difficult to set up by non technical users was the ability to Auto Configure email accounts, or the lack thereof. That has now been rectified.
