Perhaps I'm being a little dense, and if someone would like to take a try at enlightening me, I'll make a concerted effort to see the point.
Not to be argumentative, Red...and certainly you're not dense...but the cartels are closer to us and apparently more bugshit crazy on at least one more level than the Muslim fundamentalists living on the other side of the world.  You don't have to piss them off to be killed by them. All you have to do is be available to serve as a gruesome object lesson as to why nobody should defy them in any way.

I saw the video of the Mexican woman being slowly beheaded by a cartel henchman; something I will regret for the rest of my life. AFAICT, she did nothing that would count as actual provocation. She was just an example of what could happen to anybody who defies the cartels no matter how minor that offense may be. She may only have been just grabable and not an activist of any sort.  It's also alarming that the cartels apparently have operatives in many of the States and that some of my very good friends seem to think that the "just say no" policy will defeat them.EyeballEyeball

I say this in full awareness that I have no remedy for the problem. However, I'm not nearly as fearful of ISIS as I am of the macho, supernaturalist monsters who live next door to me.

By the facts of their activism I have been persuaded to fear them.
