I'm not sure the Pinto was such a great car.

But one of those magical moments;
when I was a teen, perhaps barely old enough to drive, I met a woman perhaps a few years my senior.
She was an attractive woman, cheerful, and big: NOT fat, but sturdy.
She had a Pinto with a manual transmission.

I didn't know her. But she was going on a road trip, perhaps 10 or 15 miles; and for reasons I don't recall (if there was ever a reason), I went along.
She was a wonderful driver; style suited to a teenage boy.

She had excellent control of the car, and worked it all (steering, brakes, accelerator, gear box) expertly.
By the time we'd returned, I was convinced Ford Pintos were absolutely fabulous cars!

I think it took me a few decades to figure out, Ford Pintos are Ford Pintos, and that was one very interesting woman.

PS
A decade or more later, when I had a steady job, and Ford was selling Pintos (with a newly acquired reputation for being fire traps) for $4K, I was tempted to buy one.
I guess I got the Corolla GTS instead.
I guess I could have bought two Pintos for what I paid for that GTS. But that GTS was a fabulous car! I want another one!
