Yes.
If I had such environmental conditions, I'd demand AC also.

But here, I'd use it seldom; though the Corolla GTS I had (pictured at top) had AC, and I used it quite a bit.
I'm hundreds of miles North now, and in the hills, and only drive a car about 4,000 miles a year.
Because of the latter, I'm considering just getting a cheap, reliable 4DSD. I'll drive it little enough that 8 MPG less it gets than my dream car won't add up to as much as what I saved on it.
And if there's a wreck, I can just get another one. If I spend $25K on a car, that'll pretty much be the car budget, for life.

I followed your suggestion PM. I looked in Craig's List for Saturns.
There aren't many around. And it seems, the few that have them want to keep them.

With no AC, I find I can compensate a little.
Instead of driving to Massachusetts to visit family over the Independence Day holiday; I pick Thanksgiving; run the heater if it gets a little chilly. That heat is essentially free.
