Purely as a political strategy, should President Clinton have resigned his presidential office, in perhaps late September of Y2K?
Had he done so, that would have made AlGore president.

I disagree, while Clinton didn't help - Gore lost the election. He put folks to sleep, the other side gagged em into silence and less than 1/2 of the eligible voters of the U.S. actually voted for Bush. Had the turn out been better, that would have the numbers he needed.

Too many blamed it on Ralph, but again, had Gore been better at getting the people fired up, Ralphy would have shot his eye out with his BB gun in the campaign.

And in reality, the popularity of Clinton wasn't nearly as horrendous as somefolks made it out to be; especially those who were not practicing what they were preaching, and practicing what that were preaching against. The truth of the matter was, Gore sucked. That campaign sucked. And we let it, because we did to the Republican, what the Republicans did the Democrats 8 years earlier; totally freaking ignored the contender.

``Really, Mr Collins,'' cried Elisabeth with some warmth, ``you puzzle me exceedingly. If what I have hitherto said can appear to you in the form of encouragement, I know not how to express my refusal in such a way as may convince you of its being one.'' - Pride and Prejudice
