The warrior is personally involved. Actually I don't think we have warriors in charge today, more like war-mongers because they are likely to be the last ones to risk their own neck and they do not have the warrior ethic either that it is more important to keep to the code than to win. Of course how far any real code was ever kept to may be a different story. Far from committing suicide, it seems that Samurai of a defeated Daimyo were notorious for changing sides. (Says something that in Japanese Chess, if you capture a piece you put into play on your side!) All the same there were codes and it was better not to be seen breaking them.
