Where Santa originated he mostly calls on St.Nicholas Day,the 6th and he can put bad children in his sack and carry them off to Hell. He's probably Woden or the Dying Sun come to judge good and bad. The 'real' St. Nicholas (if there was one) was a bishop of Smyrna (Izmir now - Iz=Greek eis, into + smyr) and because of marine contact is patron saint of sailors, Russia and a whole lot of other stuff as well as his reputation for giving a banquet to all the girls still virgins in the year and variations on that theme.

Never mind "Put the 'Christ' into Christmas" - take the 'Christ' out of the birthday of Mithras and the Saturnalia and Yuletide! The obvious Christian festival is Easter. In the Orthodox churches this is still the major festivity: The Christ is Risen, Death is overcome, the human spirit is immortal sod the body. That's the Christian message whether one believes it or not. It only tacked itself on to Yuletide to interpret solar myths in its own mythos. A true Christian would celebrate Easter, the {alleged} miracle that Christianity is 'all about'.

How's that for a motto: Take the Christ out of Yuletide

God created man and man created God. So is it in the world. Men make gods and they worship their creations. It would be fitting for the gods to worship men. (Gospel of Philip: Logion 85: 1-4)
