I don't celebrate Christmas. I celebrate winter solstice, just as every...or nearly every...cultural group in the world does. We don't live in a particularly religious area, so I'm not fighting the silly fundie Christian battles some others are in other locales. Most of the protests re: religious persecution come from people who are either abysmally ignorant of their own Christian holiday hijacking history or are being deliberately obfuscatory in order to foment emotional uproars.

We had a dust-up in Olympia last year about some atheist signage around the capital rotunda, (which, by the way, I thought was unecessarily antagnonistic) but most of the people here in Seattle didn't care much one way or the other and our governor was quite adamant about our respective rights to express our religious opinions...both pro and con. She's neither a particularly good or bad administrator, but for the civil rights stance alone I'll continue to vote for her as long as she chooses to run.
