But I'd be concerned that it might bog the computing down a little.

My major concern with swapping keyboards (one in front, the other in back) is simply that over time, flexing the non-coiled connection cables will wear them out. They don't have strain relief, and aren't user replaceable (though my technical skills may be equal to the task, if it doesn't require a hack saw, an arc welder, a turret lathe, and ...
