Can't remember what I was doing that Summer but at the end of it I was driving 300 miles from the ferry through country I had never seen to college in a town nobody had ever heard of in a small rear-engined car with the ball-&-socket on the gear lever progressively wearing out so that by the time I got there it was down to only second and third with a top speed of about 35mph. The first move I made off the ferry was to take the main road in the wrong direction and get stopped at a naval barracks.

God created man and man created God. So is it in the world. Men make gods and they worship their creations. It would be fitting for the gods to worship men. (Gospel of Philip: Logion 85: 1-4)
