If I were the GM of the Texans, I'd try to trade the first selection for multiple picks in the later rounds.

Yeah, I'd trade down as well if I were them, but there we go.

Despite Young's phenomenal performance in the Rose Bowl, I'd take Leinart ahead of him in the draft if it were my choice. I think Leinart is more seasoned, a better passer, and more likely to be a productive pro quarterback

Hmmm. Not sure about that. Possibly, though their figures for this year are simillar.

Vince Young, comp:212 attempts: 325 yds:3036 percentage:65.2 ypa:9.3 TDs:26 int:10 sacks:13

Matt Leinart, comp:283 att:431 yds:3815 percentage:65.7 ypa:8.9 TDs:28 int:8 sacked:17 (sports.espn.go.com/ncf/so...5&group=80 )

and that doesn't include the Rose Bowl.

What strikes me is that Leinhart has satyed very consistent in yds, completion percentage, ypa, tds, etc, ( sports.espn.go.com/ncf/pl...rId=120511 ) whereas Young has clearly improved over time (sports.espn.go.com/ncf/pl...rId=135107 ). Maybe this says more about USC, the system, the offense and playcalling, than it does about Leinart. Or maybe he's at a level and can't really improve more, or rather, there's not much more he could improve there in that system.

Well, I think the speed and complexity of the pro game presents a much tougher challenge (mentally) for QB's than RB's.

Exactly my point.

That's why quarterbacks better known for their athleticism than their throwing arm rarely win big in the NFL.

If they're known purely for their athleticism, but if you have a guy that throws well but knows when to pull it down and run with it, not just has happy feet, or panics, or simply can't seem to throw for a 1st down, that's a different matter. Then you have a much more dangerous, multifacetted weapon that can change the offense and more importantly, keep defenses scared and confused all day long.
