I suppose, when I was young, I liked his later stuff more than his early stuff, being a child of the sixties and adolescent of the seventies. As I got older, I grew to appreciate the simplicity and "rawness" of his earlier recordings.

I prefer Buddy Holly myself. More original and talented in my opinion.

I don't understand why Elvis was such a phenomena, though. All I can imagine is that the youth were fed up of Pat Boone and Nat King Cole.
