The necessity to import a post from an other board to bash believers is evident in your post!
This would be an important point, except for the fact that i did not just take the post and run back here to bash the believer. I also responded on the original thread, but thought that the overall message deserved wider discussion. The idea that atheism is just an affectation, and that we might as well adopt a pose that leads to a happier conclusion seems to pop up a lot. I wondered if it was just me, or if other atheists seem to find it offensive that others want me to pick a belief that seems to be at odds with reality, as i percieve it, for no better reason than why i might choose to watch a disney movie over something by Terry Gilliam.

This is one of my core boards, which i return to daily, and tend to bring up ideas that i think deserve discussion with people who's opinions i value. If i was terribly afraid of getting non-conformist opinions, or disagreement, i'd post in the back room, or on my own board, or just tell the shephant what happened, editing the discussion so i came out completely exonerated.

I've seen others seek help on the boards: "I'm in a discussion of evolution with (creationists/atheists) and losing! Please help!" I tend not to do that. I didn't post the link to the thread where i got the idea, as it seems like trying to get a posse up to support me, no matter the actual value of my idea.

I have, occassionally, posted a link to another thread to ask 'Was i a butthead in this one?' but that's usually because most of the regulars here will understand my position already, and can tell me if i mis-spoke myself. Also, because if MAC says i'm wrong, it matters more to me than some anticondismiscegenationist i've only exchanged 4-letter words with.
