Quote:
Does SCIENCE, and RELIGION need to always do battle?
I think most competent scientists would prefer to keep their work and people's personal beliefs separate. It's not always possible, because there appears to be a certain percentage of people who will fight like cornered rats to force square facts into round holes. I imagine evolutionary biologists have better things to do with their time than rebut the likes of Kent Hovind, but in view of the absurd disclaimers pasted into science textbooks, the attempts to have creationism taught as science in classrooms and the resultant political pressures, they don't seem to have much choice in the matter.

So, yes...I guess science and religion...at least certain segments of religion...do need to do battle.

The question I have isÂ…. What is the connection between science, and religions?
None that are relevant, as far as I can see. Science says nothing about god belief one way or another. Only a relatively small (but maddeningly loud and persistent) faction of religion takes exception with science.

To quote William Bendix in the old TV series, The Life of Reilly:

"What a revoltin' development this is!"

The difference between British and Americans is, Americans think a hundred years is a long time, and the British think a hundred miles is a long drive.
