"A genetic flaw between the humans that are on the American continent, and the ones that remain behind in the UK is my best guess"

Yes. It's called making leaps of faith. As for who is behind, which one is descended from which one's 400 yr old religious rejects :-). We don't do it as much over here, we tend to wait until at least some evidence is gathered that actually supports it, not leap on an idea and go 'yes, that must be it then because we can take evidence for other things and decide it supports this too.' :-) More than that, it's the old kindergarten logic that says "a house is big, an elephant is big, so an elephant must be a house." Scientific Americans don't do it either btw, just pointing out that certainly I do consider the evangelical jumping on theoretical bandwagons to be more of a US thing than over here, although we have our share of it.

"I take it you don’t buy into sciences theory that all life began as female?"

I don't not buy it, I'll let you know when I get to read up on all the research. It doesn't logically follow we split into two like ameobas or similar though, or fertilised ourselves. C'mon, that's a leap. Besides, if we assume that science is correct when saying we have a common ancestor with apes etc, at no time does it ever say they were asexual and could subdivide or clone themselves on the fly. That might have happened when we were all amoebas, but by the time you have a complex organism like a proto-human? Have to feel a big no there, sorry.

It's an interesting notion, as I said, but no more valid to me than the concept that all of our world leaders are really shape changing alien lizards.

*gets bitten by shape changing alien lizard on the way home*

bugger :-)
