The scenario went like this, folks! I was giving a brilliant example to why I thought biological books fell short when describing the fossil records as inconclusive.

The ones alluded to several times, and now again.

A brilliant example of what? Exactly when do you think humans ever reproduced by cloning rather than sex? I mean, what, do you expect to find homo erectus having test tube babies? Perhaps australopeticines reproduced by Mitosis?

It's the word human in there that puzzles me. If you're asking when and where sexual reproduction started in life in general, that is a valid question.

news.nationalgeographic.c...rigin.html - this link might help. Also, it might be of interest to you to know that even asexually reproducing organisms can exchange and mix genetic material - it's called conjugation. It's not sex, but it gives clues as to where sex started.

But exactly how do you expect to find where sex started looking at smudges in 3 billion year old rocks? Or when colonies of single celled organisms became identically looking multicellular organisms? Can you prove a murderer fired a gun and killed someone even if you didn't actually see it happen? Of course you can, by putting together the evidence you do have.

But if you really think humans reproduced asexually sometime in the past, I don't see any hope for you.

Oh, and if that's what you call a "brilliant" example, I'd hate to see one of your poorer attempts!
