Is that a fact or an opinion?

Gaelic and Manx are both Q-Celtic languages.

Is that a fact or an opinion?

The Celtic language groups evolved from an indo-european protolanguage.

Fact or opinion?

The earth is 4.6 billion years old.

Fact or opinion?

Modern humans have been around for aproximately 100,000 years.

Fact or opinion?

These are all FACTS.

Australopethicus africanus is the ancestor of Homo habils.

That is an OPINION. It may have been A. afarensis that evolved into H. habilis. It may have been an as yet unknown australopethicine that evolved into habilis. Afarenis and africanus may in fact be subspecies of the same australopethicine. These are all opinions.

There is now a fossil sequence showing the stages of development of modern humans from australopethicines.

That is a FACT.

There is a smooth tranistion of these species between erectus, heidelbergensis and H. sapiens. So much so in fact, that is often the source of argument as to where to place a particular specimen. Is it one or the other? It is in transition. Placing it with one species or another is a matter of OPINION.

But to say that humans did not evolve from australopethicines is an opinion that is not based on FACT. Neither is saying the earth is only 6,000 years old, or saying that languages have not evolved from ancestral tongues in the past.

Do you understand the difference now??
