I had to have my old dog, Tess, put down. I only did it when her quality of life really did drop to an unnacceptable level. I wish I could have talked to her about it, and found out what she wanted, but I couldn't, so I had to make the decision.

How can you put an animal down but refuse to heed the wishes of a human who wants someone to help them commit suicide? You wouldn't let an animal suffer in that way, so why should you force people to?

We're not talking about death squads killing the old, infirm or crippled, we're talking about assisted suicide. Not the same thing at all.
