I figured most of you would support it regarding terminally ill patients.

However, let me phrase it this way: Would you support the operation of a facility where any adult (after having undergone some type of psychological or competence exam) can have his life legally terminated by a physician?

I'm obviously referring to something similar to Dr. Kevorkian and his Suicide Machine.

Also, what about circumstances in which you might not agree with the reason? For example, what about a person who would rather die than be confined to a wheelchair for life? Or a person who is severely disfigured, but otherwise functional, after suffering 3rd degree burns? Assume the person has undergone therapy, endured the condition for a period of time, and is considered competent. Should that be enough to authorize a physician to assist?

Any thoughts?
"It's hard for me to see a more profound cosmic connection than the astonishing findings of modern nuclear astrophysics: Except for hydrogen, all the atoms that make each of us up - the iron in our blood, the calcium in our bones, the carbon in our brains - were manufactured in red giant stars thousands of light years away in space and billions of years ago in time. We are, as I like to say, starstuff.-- Carl Sagan
